Mezzo-soprano Suzanne Hendrix has been described as having "amazing power," (San Francisco Classical Voice) and has been hailed for her "one-of-a kind richness" (kcmetropolis.org), as well as her acting skills.


In the fall of 2014, Ms. Hendrix Mrs. Ott in Susannah with the San Francisco Opera. She then went to Lyric Opera of Chicago to cover the role of Azucena in Il Trovatore. Earlier in the year, she returned to Grand Thèâtre Genève for the complete Der Ring des Nibelungen. She also made role debuts as Baba, in Menotti's The Medium with Opera Memphis, and Hedwige (Guillaume Tell) with Wichita Grand Opera. In spring 2015, Ms. Hendrix is participating as part of the ensemble at the Wiener Staatsoper. She will make her company debut as a Flowermaiden in Parsifal. She will then sing the role of Larina in Eugene Onegin. In the fall of 2015, she will return to Lyric Opera of Chicago to cover roles in Le nozze di Figaro and Wozzeck. In the spring of 2016, Ms. Hendrix will make her debut with Oper Frankfurt in Puccini's Il Trittico as La zia Principessa and Zita.


In 2013, Ms. Hendrix made her Lyric Opera of Kansas City debut as Mary in Der Fliegende Holländer and Bianca in The Rape of Lucretia with Opera Memphis. In the summer of 2013, she performed Waltraute in Die Walküre with Seattle Opera in Der Ring des Nibelungen, directed by Stephen Wadsworth. She also covered the roles of Erda (Das Rheingold, Siegfried) and Erste Norn (Götterdämmerung). She will then perform Grimgerde (Die Walküre) with Grand Thèâtre Genève.


In 2012, she sang Azucena in Il Trovatore at Wichita Grand Opera. Later in the year, returned to The Santa Fe Opera to sing the role of the Fortune Teller in Strauss's Arabella. Pervious engagements include her San Francisco Opera debut in Die Walküre in the role of Schwertleite. Other roles with Wichita Grand Opera include Suzuki in Madama Butterfly and Mercédès in Carmen. Additional roles include Ma (The Tender Land), Zita (Gianni Schicchi), the Princess (Suor Angelica), and Florence Pike (Albert Herring). On the concert stage, Ms. Hendrix has appeared as a soloist in Durufé's Requiem, Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb, and Handel's Messiah, among other pieces. She is a former apprentice artist with Des Moines Metro Opera, Merola Opera Program, and the Santa Fe Opera.


Ms. Hendrix is the winner of the 2012 George London Foundation - Kirsten Flagstad Award. She is also the winner of a Gerda Lissner Foundation grant. She attended the University of Missouri, Kansas City Conservatory as well as the University of Northern Iowa.
